Our Team
Sarmad is a Politics graduate from the London School of Economics (LSE). He became interested in farmed animal welfare after engaging with LSE's Effective Altruism Society and meeting prominent animal advocates at various conferences. Having signed the Giving What We Can Pledge, he is eager to spend the next few years developing useful skills to help the animal advocacy movement and decrease the funding gap faced by organisations in developing countries. In his spare time, he's an avid squash player and loves live music.
Jenna holds a Master's degree in Historical Studies and an Honours degree in Development Studies. She has a keen interest in the interplay between humans, animals, and the environment in relation to politics, and has previously worked as a vegan chef with experience in various cause areas within the NGO sector. Based in South Africa, Jenna is passionate about connecting with and meeting fellow advocates in Africa.
Lynn graduated from the University of Cambridge with an MPhil in Translational Biomedical Research. She participated in Charity Entrepreneurship's 2020 incubation program to learn the fundamentals of creating and operating an effective nonprofit organisation. Before the program, she has worked in research, strategy, and operations in a healthcare-focused social enterprise and a mental health startup. Lynn co-founded Effective Altruism Malaysia and volunteered as a Regional Rep for The Humane League UK.
Moritz is a generalist with a focus on data and research. He has worked in the private, public, and non-profit sector. In 2023, he went through Charity Entrepreneurship's Research Training Program. He holds a Master’s in International Relations and a Bachelor’s in International Business Studies.
Cameron went through Charity Entrepreneurship’s incubation program in 2020 followed by Co-founding Animal Advocacy Africa alongside Lynn Tan, Cameron diligently runs the day-to-day operations of Animal Advocacy Africa including Finances, Legal, HR and Hiring.
Cameron has also co-founded Impactful Animal Advocacy in February 2023 empowering advocates from across the world (with a focus on LMICs) to create networks, and connections, upskill and be a part of the international animal advocacy scene.
Advisors
Dr. Onyango is a Kenyan representative for the OIE Animal Welfare Focal Point serving in the capacity of an animal welfare champion. He has over 15 years of experience in community development, project management, veterinary practice, training, and education. He aims to serve the needs of animals and link good welfare state of animals to improved human welfare and livelihood. Dr Onyango is involved in advocacy and research on animal welfare and sustainable development, amongst other advisory and consultancy roles in national and international organisations. He has also given presentations and lectures in various conferences and universities.
Catherine is a Communications Officer at Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) in Kenya and recently completed an MBA for Conservation Leaders in Kigali, Rwanda. She is a communications expert with 10 years of experience working in wildlife conservation and animal advocacy. Catherine is also the Liaison Officer supporting the Major Groups and Stakeholders of the UN Environment and has served as a board member of Friends of Nairobi National Park (FoNNaP).
Paul Ssuna is a director at the Animal Welfare Competence Center for Africa (AWeCCA), Paul Ssuna has an extensive background in research and animal welfare.
Daniel Abiliba the co-founder of Animal Welfare League, working on a variety of campaigns in Ghana, Daniel was also one of the original participants of Animal Advocacy Africa’s organisational training program
Daniel is an accomplished veternarian with a Doctorate in vetinarian medicine
